Select Hiking Trails South Africa
This site is designed to provide quick, organized access to informative hiking websites relating to South Africa. Hiking enthusiasts like you have created excellent web pages on hiking trails in South Africa -- then posted those pages on free web servers -- only to be ignored by search engines. The purpose of this site is to provide a way to find these personal hiking pages, and make your research easier.
- Drakensburg Mountains Comprehensive site with facts, figures, links, photos, info, lodgings, camping...quite a site on the Drakensburg Mountains and Natal Midlands. Site by Andrew Attwood is more than just general touring -- quite in-depth, good site. The link here is not an endorsement.
- Garden Route Trail this is another commercial site we'll gladly link to because of the helpful information concerning the Garden Route, a landscape of forest, river, wetlands, dunes and beaches between the Outeniqua Mountains and the Indian Ocean. The link here is not an endorsement.
- General South Africa Trails and Hiking site. These look to largely be guided South African trails, marketed by Underberg Hideaways
and Jacana Country Homes and Trails. Whether or not you are interested in a tour package type arrangment, this is a very informative site, maintained by Paul Colvin. The link here is not an endorsement.
- Tsitsikama Hiking Trail 60-km, linear trail, beginning at Natures Valley and ending at the Storms River bridge or village. It journeys through the heart of the Tsitsikamma mountains where extensive patches of indigenous afromontane forest and mountain fynbos still occur. The mountains form the watershed for a myriad of streams and rivers, many of which are fountainheads for the wider, slower-flowing and magnificently sculptured rivers of the Tsitsikamma coast. Site is from an ecotourism outfit. The link here is not an endorsement.
