Select Hiking Trails England

This site is designed to provide quick, organized access to informative websites about Hiking in England. Private hiking enthusiasts like you have created excellent web pages on hiking trails -- then posted those pages on free web servers -- only to be ignored by search engines. The purpose of this site is to provide a way to find these personal hiking pages, and make your research easier.

As of now we have just a couple links, but what we lack in quantity we make up in quality. The first, Go4aWalk.com is the place to get directions, details, data...it's an encyclopedia. The second, Peaks and Valleys blog on the ActivityHolidaysGuide.com site, provides up-to-the-moment news, suggestions, opinions...less data, but more enjoyable reading that makes the trails and paths come alive.

  • Go For a Walk easily one of the best online hiking guides for Great Britain. Uses interactive maps to provide details on hundreds of hikes.

  • Lake District Walking the tracks and fells; an enjoyable trip narrative with photos from an American point of view. Fun site by William Chamberlain.

  • Peaks and Valleys Forum a "blog" or forum provided by the Activity Holidays Guide for Walkers, Climbers and anyone pursuing an outdoor activity on foot. Great for keeping up on the latest news, info, etc. Emphasis is on England but does address other UK and international hiking regions as well.

  • General Self-guided walking tour info (inn to inn with baggage transfer service) on the XploreBritain.com website.

  • General -- Travel Basics In case you miss this page on the XploreBritain.com site, I include this link here because I feel it is so helpful; customs, weather, explanation of accommodation types, tipping practices, and so much more that you'll need to know prior to stepping out on foot in England.
